About Wells of Being

A well is an ancient technology built to support life at a fundamental level. Metaphorically, in us, it’s a deep store of what is clear, calm, and essential.

In a culture driven by the constant distraction of new shiny things and incessant hurrying, Wells of Being is intended to be a space to pause, reflect and explore your deeper sources. It is an ongoing inquiry into practical philosophy, depth psychology, and the capacities we need to navigate change— connections, emotional robustness and resilience, and a life aligned with purpose.

Whether you are here to listen to a conversation, explore an idea, or take a place at an upcoming gathering—welcome!

About Me

I grew up in Scotland, the eldest of four brothers, with permissive parents and an unusual amount of freedom. School went smoothly enough, but by the end of my Highers I had no appetite for a conventional career or university. Instead, I spent the next decade working and traveling across the globe, moving every few months.

Eventually, the constant motion ran its course. I felt more strongly a need to move beyond the nomad and develop parts of myself that required roots. I returned to Scotland to navigate marriage, raising children, build a house and the many various ways to earn a living.

Over time, a different friction emerged: a growing focus and concern with the trajectory and underlying priorities of modern culture. And the amount of time I was spending on things that held less and less meaning.

Wells of Being is an emerging response—a space for deliberate conversations, practical workshops, and shared inquiry into the multiple ways we can build connections, depth and adaptability.
